What's New?The shiny newness on the siteLast update 24/02/2006: Well, this is me, scraping in to meet my own deadline and I'm sorry to announce that the update is pitifully small this time around. Angel fans will be happy to see the newest episode ready, as well as two 'DVD extras' in the shape of commentaries for two of the biggest episodes of the season so far. However, I am disappointed by the fact that I have nothing new to put in the fiction section. Time has got away from me this month and I haven't had a chance to do much more writing than getting the Angel out. With luck, I should do better for the next update. The only exciting news of this month is that my blog has been resurrected, like the phoenix from the flames. Or, more accurately, like a distraction that can be indulged in during boring work. If you're interested in finding out about the person behind the stories, then that's quite possibly the place to go. Although it's no substitute for sending me a nice long feedback e-mail. Until the next update, PJW FICTION: TacheBack 2005! Sponsor me and watch me look silly.
Old updates: 9/01/2006: Again, I must offer my apologies for reneging on my own, self-imposed, deadlines. I am a couple of weeks late with the new Angel episode, but I hope you'll forgive me, as I must say it's a bit of a good one. the infamous Caroline Childs has just been throwing things at me after beta-reading, because I don't have any more to give her. Angel 6x06: Alone can be found in the fanfiction section. Aside from the fanfiction, there's a new story on the website. Apart From The Crowd is a small vignette describing exactly what can happen in the secrecy of a powercut. Hope you enjoy. 26/11/2005: First off, I must apologise for the lateness of this update. My failed attempt at NaNo and other commitments have kept me away from the website, for which I can only apologise. I hope that it is to your taste. The major part of the update this month is the new Angel episode. This piece brings a climax to the three-episode mini-arc started in Lost Souls. I think you'll be satisfied; the ending of this episode made one of my beta-readers cry. If you did enjoy, then don't forget to use the various feedback mechanisms to tell me what you thought. I've been looking forward to putting up this episode for so long, however it comes with a tinge of sadness. I am now without a safety buffer, as that was the last completed Angel episode and I will have to write fast to finish in time for the deadline next month. I'm confident, but if I fail, then I hope you'll forgive me. For the non-fanfic fans, there is a copy of my attempted NaNo piece. I've come to the conclusion that I am a) too busy and b) not cut out for NaNo, as I managed a pitiful 6,000 from the 50,000 word aim. It's good stuff and I will certainly return to it in the future, but I don't think I shall try speed-writing again. For those interested, it's a nice look behind the scenes at a work-in-progress. I shall now return to regularly scheduled life and attempt to get something together for next month. 23/10/2005: Only a small update today. As promised, the new Angel episode, Here Without You,
is online. I thoroughly want to put up two at once, as I'm very
invested in this little mini-arc. You are going to love how this
develops! However, I must be patient, as there are only 7
days to NaNoWriMo
and I'm holding some back so that the Angel fans
are not new content-deprived through next month. Those of you who like
my regular writing are going to be in for a treat, as my NaNo-ing will
be put up on the site, raw and undiluted. If you want a behind the
scenes look at rough cuts of stories, then it'll be worth checking out.
I'd love to think that I will make the 50,000 words, but I can't hold
out any great hope. I'm betting a nice round 28,000 for the month. If you're in a saccharine mood, then check out There For Me, a vignette about the quiet adoration of a man in love. Just slightly autobiographical, but unfortunately not written recently. Shame. 2/10/2005: The latest Angel episode is now online. Lost Souls
brings an old ally back into the fray, but it may not be looking
to help the gang this time. This episode is the first in a three
episode mini-arc that will have you thoroughly gripped and I can
thoroughly recommend it. To quote one of my beta-readers, "You write as
if you're scared of getting cancelled. Every scene leaves you wanting
to know what's coming next and I will have to kill you if you don't
give me the next one soon." The next episode will be out middle of the month. Hope you enjoy and don't forget to send me feedback. 25/09/2005: This update welcomes a guest author to the site - Caroline Childs, my dear friend and someone who's quite disgustingly talented. Her story Hurt is dark, edgy and slightly scary. I've heard her perform it before and hope to persuade her to record an audio version for the site. Her website can be found here. 22/09/2005: New this month is this bit of text which I'm writing
in now. I thought it a good idea to have a news section of the site.
First of all, welcome to the site. I won't say welcome to the new
people, as you'll all be relative newcomers here. Hopefully the site's
been vaguely entertaining so far. The most obvious change is the new website address, www.telltalestories.com. Also don't forget to check out the Tacheback mini-site, to see my amusing Charity-tache. New stories involves the short story Happy Endings,
which is about a girl who is seeking to escape the shadow of her
abusive boyfriend. Plus, there are also new developments on the Angel
front, with episode 5x05 only minutes away from completion. The reason why
you loyal webfollowers have only got episodes 5x01 and 5x02 is because
I am currently planning on entering NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. For
those who are unaware, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month
(although I'll confess as to not knowing which nation!) and involves
writing 50,000 words in one month. Considering my novel is 47,000 words
and took me 2 years to produce a first draft, this might seem vaguely
ridiculous. However, around 2,000 words a day is definitely doable and
would leave me enough gaps to allow for missing the occasional day. I'm
quite blatantly going to fail, but it's worth a crack, and the results
will be posted up here throughout November. As a result of
this, I imagine November will be a non-Angel writing month. Therefore
I'm going to store up a couple to keep the Wolf, the Ram and the Hart
from the door while I'm NaNoWriMo-ing. Episode 5x03 - Lost Souls will
come out at the start of October, so keep your eyes peeled. Enjoy! PJW |
